Thoughts for the Journey...

“To have striven, to have made the effort, to have been true to certain ideals, this alone is worth the struggle.”

Sir William Osler

Harmony…an interesting word. Achieving harmony…an interesting concept for our stressed-filled lives that are torn into different parts, much the same way this text is segmented.

I don’t know about you, but except for my faith, the cornerstone of every part of my life, at any given time one part can require more attention than the rest, thus creating disharmony. Quite often that is the professional part of my life.

However, to achieve a more harmonious lifestyle, it is important to try to find time for family and pleasure activities that help us relax, bring us together, and make us laugh.

For me, writing is a way to de-stress.  And, as Umberto Echo tells us in The Island of the Day Before, “To survive, you must tell stories.” So, here are my stories. Well, some of them…

Truthfully, I have been a writer at heart since I wrote my first “humor column” when I was eight years old in 1965. I remember it well – my soup thermos literally exploded in the school cafeteria, causing quite a ruckus, and my soup went flying up out all over the table. When I got home, I penned the piece on “Exploding chicken noodle soup” – trying to mimic the style of Erma Bombeck. I fell in love with the craft and have had the writer’s dream ever since…

I hope you enjoy these pages and the stories contained in them.
